Take a look at what we’ve been up to recently |
| Luke 14 Dinner in Morristown On May 19 Manley Baptist Church sponsored its second annual Luke 14 Dinner. The evening brought the Gospel and hope to people with disabilities, family members, and friends. In the Luke 14 story, it is clear that Jesus wants to provide “a seat at the table” for every person through the gift of salvation and to make His house full with people serving. Many thanks to the women’s ministry of Manley Baptist Church, our speaker, Ken Piety, and other volunteers for making this wonderful evening possible! | Gwen and Joyce enjoying the dinner | | | Warm Springs Family Retreat Families and volunteers had an amazing adventure in search of the Savior at Camp Dream in July. A first-time family participant wrote, "I know we saw a glimpse of heaven at the retreat. I always knew that there was hope, love and compassion but never really experienced it all at once. Well, we definitely experienced it all at Camp Dream...The memories will forever be in our hearts.” Our Family Retreat pastor, Dana Olson, summed up the experience, “We have continually rejoiced over the great week at Family Retreat, telling many people, ‘It was the best ever.’ We delight to work with y’all in this ministry.”
Many thanks to all the families and volunteers who participated, and special thanks to our Family Retreat Director, Robin Gibson! | | | | Guatemala Wheels for the World Trip Many lives were forever changed in Guatemala through the power of Jesus Christ and the shared mission of the Joni and Friends Knoxville Wheels for the World (WFTW) and Vine International medical teams. This inaugural trip in February, marked the first time a WFTW team traveled and served side-by-side with another group. The spirit of unity, mutual support and cooperation led to our motto, “Two Teams, One Mission.”
Your prayers protected and supported 1,300 Guatemalan children and adults (from ages 2 to 106), missionaries,
Guatemalan friends, and 28 team members! One hundred twenty-eight people received wheelchairs selected and fitted specifically for them, and 13 people received Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center sponsored two therapists to be part of the Guatemala WFTW 2006 team. Physical therapist Michele Lloyd reflects, “It is difficult to express in words the wonder and joy I experienced on this trip. Being used by God in this ministry is such a privilege and honor. Looking back at all that we accomplished is a true testament to God’s Amazing Grace.” Adalena, a 19-year-old woman with cerebral palsy, now has the freedom to move with the gift of a 20-year-old chair that was customized by Michele for her with a “God-given plan.”
We would like to express deep appreciation to Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center, Woody Woodson of Vine International, our team members, and everyone who prayed for and gave financial gifts to make this trip possible. | | |
